Happy Birthday, Harold! Patricia Lilly and others were on hand to wish Harold a very happy 99th birthday on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.
Harold is a founding member of Redeemer and father of Redeemer member Nancy Shelor.

In November 2002, the parking lot was graded and the two islands built. Hanging the vinyl siding was competed. Concrete pads were put in for the HVAC units. Inside the church the transformation was dramatic as wallboard was put up.
By the beginning of October the front roof dormers had been added to break up the plainness of the building’s front. Weather barrier wrap was attached all around the church.
As September began, the church had exterior and interior framed walls, but no roof. The roof trusses were delivered on a large flatbed trailer and lifted into position with a crane. A professional crew installed the trusses and braces. Congregation members and the Laborers for Christ nailed the roof’s plywood decking to the trusses. This was most challenging on the steep roof above the front entrance. The roof deck was completed by the end of the month and roofing felt started to be attached.

Beginning September 11, Pastor Frank Ruffatto leads the adult Sunday School class through a reading of The Hammer of God by Lutheran pastor and bishop, Bo Giertz.
The Hammer of God is a historical/theological novel that demonstrates the power of God's Word over spiritual deadness, rationalism, pietism, and liberalism.
Cub Scout Pack 152 hosts a special joining event on Thursday, September 15 at 6 pm at Redeemer.
Everyone enjoyed a festive potluck lunch to celebrate Rally Day 2022. The meal was topped off with a cake to celebrate Pastor Frank’s 10-year anniversary at Redeemer.
Our Altar guild (Altar Preparation Team) and Elders (Spiritual Care Team) worked together over the summer months to select and purchase new altar furnishings.
Andy and Ruthie Hammes come to us from Colorado and are make their home in Crab Orchard, WV. Andy works remotely and Ruthie works at the New River Gorge National Park.
Beginning September 11, Redeemer begins a new sermon series, Return to the Lord. The series is based on the Book of Joel.
Redeemer’s disaster fund (C.I.D.E.R., critical incidents, disasters, and emergencies response), which is administered by the Community Care Team, has made a $1000 donation to a responding relief agency, Lutheran Disaster Response.
The framework of the church really started to take shape the last three weeks of August 2002.
Redeemer’s members bought and donated most of the backpacks and supplies, but some money was donated for purchases and Thrivent made a $250 grant for additional purchases. Forty seven complete backpacks were assembled and delivered to the school.

Redeemer’s walk team hiked around West Virginia State Capitol on April 10, 2022 to raise funds and awareness for issues impacting West Virginia families. The team raised approximately $1300 to benefit Cross Roads Pregnancy Care Center located in Charleston, WV.
Stewardship Chairperson Phil Gaarenstroom reports on a three-day Charitable Gift Planning course at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Warren, MIchigan. The course was presented by three staff members of the LCMS Foundation and the purpose was to teach churches and other ministries how to use charitable gift planning so that God’s gifts can be used for God’s purposes.
The 2022 Walk for Life benefiting Cross Roads Pregnancy Care Center is April 10.
All Redeemer friends and family are invited to join the church’s walk team for the Cross Roads PCC Walk for Life on April 10, beginning at 3 p.m. at the West Virginia State Capitol Complex.
Tristan Walker was presented the Eagle badge on Saturday, March 19 at a ceremony at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Charleston, WV.
In early 2022, Redeemer Lutheran Church purchased new equipment to increase livestream reliability.

The Community Care Team extends thanks to everyone who donated backpacks, school supplies, and/or money to our Backpack Collection. 60 backpacks were delivered to Alum Creek Elementary School. They were very much appreciated.
